Love. Just love. That’s what Susanne & Garry meant to us. They wanted to get married in a small fishing town in Catalonia called Calella de Palafrugell that they knew well from their past travels there. Given the wonderful bond between them and the town, they decided to go for a Scottish-Catalan culture mix as their wedding theme. So, it was all about symbolism and every single detail was very meaningful to them.
The venue chosen was a lovely and typical hotel in the middle of the town. They always dreamed of getting married there and finally they did. The ceremony was a Celtic handfasting act performed beautifully by Terry, a British Humanist Minister based in Spain. After the ceremony, all the guests enjoyed the canapés by the pool and once they arrived at the reception area, each guest was welcomed with a small bottle of whisky that they brought from Scotland, specifically from the area where Garry’s clan is from.
Susanne and Garry cut the cake with the knife from Garry’s kilt and right after we added a bit more of Catalan tradition with a typical Catalan drink, called cremat made of dark rum, cinnamon, lemon peel and coffee beans. The final Scottish touch came after the first dance and just before the party as they decided to remember and enjoy their early years dancing typical Scottish songs.

"After deciding to get married in Catalonia we immediately started trying to plan our wedding. We knew exactly the town in which we wanted to get married, having visited it many times before. I was initially unsure about how to begin the planning process, we were not able to travel to Catalonia prior to the wedding and I was worried about the language difference.
